Theft and possession

A nine-week theft investigation has finally come to a close. On Monday at 11:37 a.m., Chatham-Kent police were called to a disturbance on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

When police arrived, they found a man in the area and learned that he had been wanted on an outstanding warrant for an incident that occurred on Oct. 14.

A 30-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.

Outstanding warrant

A man turned himself in at the Chatham-Kent police headquarters early Monday afternoon.

Apparently the man was wanted on several warrants regarding bail violation and a fire that occurred on Creek Road in November.

A 31-year-old was arrested and charged with arson, uttering threats, and failing to comply with a release order.

Bail violation

Chatham-Kent police had been investigating an event since Dec. 15 for a man allegedly breaching his probation and entering a woman’s home when he has been prohibited to be in contact with her during his release order.

Police were not able to find the man until Monday at around 9:30 a.m. The man was found on Grand Avenue West in Chatham where he was arrested.

A 40-year-old Kitchener man was charged with failing to comply with his release order.

Failing to attend court

A traffic stop Monday morning resulted in more than just a moving violation.

The stop took place on St. Clair Street in Chatham at around 11:35 a.m. While doing this, police found a woman who was wanted for failing to attend court.

A 28-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and brought to police headquarters where she was held pending a bail hearing.
