Wendy and Mike Fields have started a crushing trend, one that benefits the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent (ASCK).
Last year, the Fields, members of Wildwood by the Lake, decided to organize a fundraiser that transformed empty bottles and cans into a donation to ASCK.
Wendy’s father, Joe Breynaert, was a former client of ASCK’s Day Program and the motivation behind this fundraiser. She and Mike saw how valuable the Day Program was for both their family and Joe’s well-being and wanted to recognize that in his memory.
Along with Wildwood Park Members, the couple collected an enormous number of cans and bottles during the spring and summer months. They cashed them in and presented ASCK a donation of $3,552 in 2021.
The Wildwood Park Members were at it again this year and managed to raise even more funds. ASCK received a donation of $4,680.70.
The Ridgetown Beer Store staff always assisted Mike and Wendy with a smile, no matter how large their load was.
Wendy, Mike, and the Wildwood Park Members gave empty cans and bottles a meaningful purpose, as ASCK can continue to assist those affected by dementia in Chatham-Kent, just like they did with Wendy’s father.
