B&E charges laid

Shortly before 7:30 a.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to a break and enter at a business located on Bothwell Street in Chatham.

Police learned the suspect was still on scene. Officers formed a perimeter around the property and contacted the suspect.

The man was found in possession of a bag containing wire cutters, wire, cables, and truck parts, police say.

The truck parts were identified by the business owners.

Police also learned the man was on conditions not to possess any tools suitable for the purposes of breaking and entering.

A 43-year-old Chatham-Kent is charged with failing to comply with release order, break and enter, possession of stolen property, possession of break and enter tools.

Assault charges

Shortly after midnight last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at an address on Foster Street in Chatham.

Through investigation police learned a man and his ex-girlfriend engaged in a verbal argument at a residence on Degge Street in Chatham.

The man left this residence and went to a friend’s residence after being assaulted by the woman, police say.

A 28-year-old Chatham woman was arrested for one count of assault.

Another assault charge

At 1:49 a.m. this morning, police responded to a business located on King Street in Chatham for a disturbance.

Police learned a woman was upset the establishment was closing for the evening and assaulted an employee. A description of the woman was provided.

Police arrived, located, and arrested a 47-year-old Chatham woman. She was charged with assault and transported to police headquarters, where she was held until sober.

Theft arrests

Shortly after 10:00 a.m., police responded to a theft from Canadian Pacific Railway property located on Richmond Street in Chatham. Descriptions of the men were provided to police.

Police arrived and located the two men a short distance away.

A 51-year-old Chatham man and a 37-year-old Chatham man were arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

More theft charges

On May 10, a woman was released from custody with a condition not to attend Winner’s on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

On Tuesday at 1:19 p.m., police responded to a theft at Wal-Mart on St. Clair Street in Chatham. Police say the woman was observed removing a bicycle from the property.

A description of the woman was provided to police.

Police intercepted the woman and found her to be in possession of the stolen bicycle and property from Winner’s. The items were confirmed to be stolen.
