Weapon charges in Wallaceburg

A Wallaceburg man faces charges after shots were fired in the community on the weekend.

Police involvement started with a traffic stop. On Sunday night, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop in Wallaceburg. At this time, the officer observed damage to the man’s vehicle, which was suspicious in nature.

Through investigation, police learned that an altercation occurred on Sunday afternoon, resulting in shots being exchanged between the man and two people known to him, while in the intersection of Victoria Street and King Street.

Early this morning, a 31-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with pointing a firearm and being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A/C mischief

Sometime over the past week, someone damaged both air conditioning units on the roof at the WISH Centre on King Street East.

Total damage has been estimated at $27,000.

Tools stolen

Sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning, someone entered a warehouse on Eastman Avenue in Wheatley, causing about $100 damage.

Once inside, the suspect(s) stole various tools valued at approximately $2,500.
