No drugs, no knives…wait, what?
Earlier this year, the man was released from Court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to possess any weapons.
Yesterday morning, a Chatham-Kent police officer on general patrol observed a man, known to him as being unlicensed, driving in Chatham.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and the man was arrested for driving while under suspension.
Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a large knife in a sheath on his belt and suspected crystal methamphetamine in his coat pocket.
A 37-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of driving while under suspension, failing to comply with his release conditions and drug possession. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and remanded into custody until today.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
Senseless mischief
Sometime between Saturday at 3 p.m. and yesterday at 2 p.m., someone damaged a wooden sculpture in front of a business on Sixth Street.
Total damage was estimated at $1,000.

Plate problems
Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling with a license plate that was falling off the vehicle.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and learned that the driver was suspended for unpaid fines and remedial measures.
The officer also noticed that there were two different license plates attached to the vehicle.
A 42-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of driving while under suspension, two counts of plates not authorized for the vehicle and operating a vehicle with no insurance.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court.
Shoplifting
Yesterday afternoon, a woman attended Giant Tiger on Grand Avenue in Chatham and filled her cart with various items. The woman exited the store without paying for the items valued at $125 and fled in a car that was waiting for her outside.
Through investigation, police identified the woman and she was located at a residence in Chatham.
A 26-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The stolen property was recovered and returned to the store.
Theft of tools
Sometime between Sunday at 7 p.m. and yesterday at 7 a.m., someone entered a garage on Joseph Street and stole various power tools valued at approximately $2,500.

Theft of equipment
Sometime between Nov. 25 and Nov. 27, someone stole attachments for a skid steer from Riegling Trucking on Colborne Street. The attachments consisted of a large broom and breaker.

Warrants
Last night, police located a man on Wellington Street in Chatham who was wanted for failing to attend court to provide a DNA sample.
A 32-year-old Chatham man is charged with failing to comply with a Court Order. He was released pending a future court date.

Shortly after 4 a.m. this morning, police arrested a woman on Harvey Street in Chatham who was wanted in connection with two theft and shoplifting incidents.
A 48-year-old woman of no fixed address has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
