The latest fundraising victim of COVID-19, and now a recurring one, in Chatham-Kent is the Woman of Excellence awards dinner.

The May Court Club announced it is again rescheduling the dinner to an as yet to be determined date.

The dinner was originally scheduled for May 29, and got pushed back to Nov. 6. Now, officials said it will be moved to sometime in the spring of 2021.

The May Court Club event organizers said they felt it may not yet be safe in November for the community to gather to attend this event.

Holding the dinner next spring will be conditional upon it being safe to do so at that time.

The May Court Club also wishes to advise that the Women of Excellence nominations that were received by the club earlier this year are all being kept on file.

At this point, no decisions have been yet made as to the choice of the Women of Excellence for each of the six award categories.

This will be done at a later date in line with the new date for the Awards Dinner.

No new Women of Excellence nominations are being accepted at this time.

The May Court Club of Chatham is a service organization that has been dedicated to addressing needs in our community, primarily those of women and children, through volunteerism and fundraising. The club welcomes women from across Chatham-Kent as its members.

It is part of the Association of May Court Clubs of Canada, which is one of Canada’s oldest volunteer service organizations and is now comprised of nine clubs and nearly 1,500 volunteers across Ontario.
