Weapon and drug charges
Last night, an officer on general patrol observed a man driving a vehicle on Lansdowne Avenue in Chatham with plates that were not authorized for the vehicle.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and the man was arrested.
A search incident to arrest, resulted in the man being found to be in possession of a flick knife, bear spray, suspected hydromorphone and tools that were stolen from a vehicle in Chatham last weekend.
Colin Warnock, 28, of Chatham, faces a host of charges: using plates not authorized for the vehicle; driving with no authorized validation on plate; operating a vehicle with no insurance; driving with no license; possession of a weapon x2; failing to comply with his release conditions x3; breach of probation x3; being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000; and drug possession
He was released pending a future court date of June 25.
Theft of dogs
Yesterday afternoon, police located a man in Chatham who was wanted for stealing his ex-girlfriend’s dogs and car on Monday.
The 42-year-old London man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his Probation Order, theft of motor vehicle, theft under $5,000 and two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.
He was released pending a future court date of June 24.
Bike bust
Last night, an officer on general patrol observed a man riding his BMX bike through a red light at the intersection of Wellington Street and Queen Street in Chatham.
The officer stopped the man for this offence and through investigation learned that he was wanted for fraud-related offences and public mischief.
Matthew Pels, 26, of Chatham, was arrested and released pending a future court date of June 24.
Theft in Bothwell
Sometime between Tuesday at 5 p.m. and Wednesday at 7:30 a.m., unknown suspect(s) entered a barn at Sloan’s Christmas Tree Village on Zone 7 Road, causing about $750 damage.
Once inside, the suspect(s) stole: a 211 MIG Welder with tank and cart; 22 HP Honda motor; four Stihl MS 362 chain saws; five DeWalt drills and batteries; Mastercraft grinder; DeWalt grinder; and miscellaneous tools.
Total value of the theft has been estimated at $10,000.
