Today and tomorrow, the Chatham-Kent Shriner clubs will host the Mocha Shriners Annual Fall Ceremonial.
More than 300 Shriners from Ontario and Michigan will be in town at events hosted by the Mocha Cruisers, Blenheim Shrine Club and Ahcom Shriners, including a traditional Shriner Parade on Saturday afternoon.
The Fall Ceremonial is the last event of the year and is the event when new candidates become Shriners, and donations to the Shriners Hospitals and Activities are made.
The weekend events are divided in those open to the public and those open for the business of Shriners.
Events open to the public include a rib and chicken barbecue today between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the St. Clair College Healthplex. Dinner is $25.
On Saturday Morning, the public is invited to join the Shriners at the Chatham Masonic Lodge on 430 Riverview
Dr., from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for breakfast. Cost is $5 at the door.
Saturday at 9 a.m., the public can come to the Healthplex and watch the opening of the day with donations and the beginning of the candidates’ road to being a Shriner.
And at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Shriners take to the streets, holding a traditional Shriner Parade starting at A&W on Grand Avenue and then travelling west down Grand Avenue and ending at the HealthPlex.
