Warming centres offered again on Thursday

The extreme cold warning issued by Environment Canada for Southern Ontario including all areas in Chatham-Kent will continue for Thursday.

A prolonged period of cold is expected through to Friday morning, with temperatures ranging from -20°C to -27°C with wind chills between -30°C to -40°C. Conditions are expected to improve by Friday as milder air moves into the region.

All branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library will once again be open tomorrow, Thursday January 31st, to provide a warm location for anyone needing to get out of the cold.

 

Highgate branch, normally closed on Thursdays will now open from noon until 5:00 pm

 

Extended hours will be offered tomorrow at the following branches:

 

Merlin: 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm

Thamesville: Noon until 5:00 pm

Wallaceburg: 10:00 am until 8:00 pm

Wheatley: 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm

 

The following branches will be open their regular hours, ready to greet individuals needing a warm location:

 

Blenheim: Noon until 8:00 pm

Bothwell: 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm

Tilbury: Noon until 8:00 pm

Ridgetown: Noon until 8:00 pm

Dresden: Noon until 8:00 pm

Chatham: 9:30 am until 8:30 pm

Library staff are happy to open the doors again tomorrow to help anyone needing a warm place to go.
