There’s a new community garden going into Thamesville, announced just ahead of the annual Threshing Festival.
Ferguson Park will host the garden, according to CK Public Health officials.
The selection of Thamesville follows a community-wide consultation process led by CK Public Health, which included a public survey to better understand local interest in expanding community gardening initiatives. Thamesville residents demonstrated the highest level of interest.
“This new community garden reflects the strong interest and enthusiasm expressed by Thamesville residents,” said East Kent Coun. Morena McDonald, who brought forward the motion to grow the program in Chatham-Kent.
The Food Policy Council is already working to bring the garden to life. The volunteer co-ordinator is currently meeting with new participants, organizing supplies, and preparing the site for planting for the upcoming growing season.
