I have owned and operated a successful small business for the past 10 years. I know the importance of watching the bottom line and prudently investing or knowing what to divest.
In addition to this experience I will bring this to the table hard work and a no-nonsense approach to spending.
I represent you South-Kent; my agenda is your agenda. I will work with you to represent Ward 2 while working with fellow councillors to keep Chatham-Kent moving forward.
This is my time to give back, a vote for me is a voice for you.
- Do you support increasing funding for infrastructure given the fact several culverts and bridges – including the Third Street Bridge – have had emergency issues and closures recently?
Yes.
- Would you support a tax freeze or rollback if it meant reduced staff and/or services?
Yes.
- Would you support shifting some services to the private sector if those services could be done more efficiently that way?
Only if we can assure the same high level of efficiency without compromising services to the public. Keeping in consideration the cost to tax payers if the municipality had to buy these services back.
- Do you believe we need a municipal ombudsman or ethics commissioner?
We have one in place – Paul Watson.
- Do you support investigating a reduction in the number of council members?
Yes.
- Should the municipality try to land an Ontario Cannabis Store as soon as possible?
Learn from our neighbor cities, see what works and look at the problematic issues. Gather data to make the right decisions for our municipality.
- Should council be more proactive in terms of working with landowners with contaminated wells?
Yes.
- Some critics say the municipal building department is an impediment to development in C-K. Do you agree?
Yes.
- Do you believe Chatham needs a new twin-pad arena?
This would be a great asset to Chatham-Kent, if we could get upper level government and private funding. We have to consider at what cost to the tax payers and the 11 other arenas in our municipality.
- Should the municipality cut back on its expenditures for overseas economic development efforts?
Yes.
- Should municipal councillors ever be forced to go the Freedom of Information route when seeking municipal information?
In order for councillors to pass an educated vote they need all information at their disposal.
- Should members of the public have more access to municipal information without having to resort to an FOI?
I’m a strong believer in transparency, the public should have access with reasonable request.
