The Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has just $250,000 remaining to reach its goal of $6.9 million for the Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign, which comes to a close in less than a week.
With the campaign wrapping up on May 28, the Foundation asks the community to lend support needed for new diagnostic imaging (DI) equipment for CKHA’s Chatham and Wallaceburg hospital sites.
“Through the very generous support of the community, we are now only $250,000 away from reaching our goal,” Mary Lou Crowley, Executive Director, Foundation of CKHA, said in a media release. “With just one week left, we need the community’s support more than ever. The equipment being purchased through this campaign is going to improve lives across our community.”
Launched in 2014, the Future in Focus fundraising campaign supports the purchase of 17 new pieces of equipment for the CKHA. Fifteen pieces have already been installed, with a large portion of the remaining funds being raised to purchase one of the most important pieces equipment for any hospital: a new CT scan machine.
“The hard work of the Foundation and the community over the last number of years has really paid off,” said Crowley. “The people of Chatham-Kent have been incredibly supportive, and with their help we continue to make health care better for everyone who calls this area home.”
Diagnostic imaging equipment can help diagnose cancer, heart disease, strokes, broken bones and countless other ailments. Advanced equipment can also help to attract more physicians to the community as they seek out health care environments where the latest innovations and technologies are in use.
Governments do not fund capital equipment expenditures such as new diagnostic imaging equipment for hospitals. It is the mandate of hospital foundations to raise money from organizations, individuals and businesses to purchase these necessary items for the community.
“This new equipment will do so much good for our friends and family when they need it the most,” said Crowley. “Every single dollar counts and I’m confident we can band together as a community to raise the final $250,000.”
