Responsibilities at Chatham-Kent’s Economic Development Department are changing, according to a release issued by C-K CAO Don Shropshire.
Effective Sept. 1, current Economic Development Director Michael Burton will assume the title of
Director, Investment Attraction and Government Affairs for Economic Development.
Shropshire said Burton, who has led the department for the past five years, will concentrate on the areas of government relations and foreign investment.
Stuart McFadden, currently Deputy Director of Economic Development, will assume the role of Acting Director of Economic Development.
Shropshire said the move is part of the “municipality’s commitment to succession planning, leadership development and talent acquisition.”
Both positions will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.
McFadden, a longtime local business owner, said he is excited about the opportunity.
“We have a big task and I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
Burton said the opportunity would allow him to concentrate on a number of key files that require more extensive work.
Mike Burton is the ABSOLUTE BEST in whatever position he manages! Sincere congratulations to Mike, Stuart and Chatham-Kent!
