A 29-year-old Wallaceburg man has been arrested and charged with assault, uttering threats and forcible confinement against his pregnant girlfriend after a Sunday morning altercation.
Chatham Kent Police said the man and his girlfriend had an argument which escalated into a physical altercation. The man assaulted and threatened the woman while also not allowing her to leave the bathroom to call for help.
Another resident in the home was able to get the man away from the woman.
The pregnant woman was assessed by paramedics as a precaution.
The man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
