A 28-year-old Chatham man spent the night in custody after being taken into custody at the Downtown Chatham Centre on a variety of charges.
The man was arrested on five outstanding warrants for multiple offences, including failing to comply, obstruct justice, break and enter, theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and failing to attend court.
Upon being searched incident he was found to be in possession of a forged cheque in the amount of $450.
Through investigation, police confirmed with his family that they did not issue him the cheque.
He was additionally charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and possession of a forged document with intent.
He will remain in custody pending a bail hearing.
