More funding for CKHA

A recent announcement will see the province commit $8.5 million to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

The 2026-27 funding increase to CKHA funnels close to $5 million to the hospital to improve operations and reduce wait times, as well as an additional $3.5 million for upgrades and repairs.

Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones said he’s proud to see Ontario boost health care in his riding.

“Our local hospitals are essential to the health and well-being of our communities,” Jones said in a media release, noting both investment streams will provide safe, quality health care close to home. “I’m proud to see our government investing in the infrastructure that supports patients, families and frontline health-care workers across Chatham-Kent–Leamington,” Jones said.

The cash influx will support CKHA core clinical services to better meet patient needs. It includes funding to keep the emergency department open, support inflationary or other wage pressures, and reduce wait times for diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures, so people can connect to health care faster.

Leamington’s Erie Shores Health Care facility will also benefit from a major funding boost. It’s receiving $2.2 million in 2026-27 to support critical infrastructure needs and $1.2 million for infrastructure renewal.
