
Flare gun fired, man charged
Discharging a flare gun on a Sunday morning will attract attention. For a Wallaceburg man, it also resulted in charges on the weekend.
Police say they were called after someone set off the flare gun on Wallace Street before leaving on foot.
Officers investigated, identified their suspect and located the man at the corner of Murray and Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.
A 31-year-old Wallaceburg man faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, discharging a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner, and possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
Plow problems
A Chatham man faces charges after someone apparently freaked out on municipal snow-clearing personnel Friday afternoon.
Police say that shortly after 1:30 p.m. Friday, officers were called to a disturbance on Fourth Street in Chatham where someone was “screaming, swearing and impeding the ability of municipal workers to clear snow from the roadway” on Fourth Street.
The plow driver tried to drive away from the accused, police say, but the man followed the vehicle and hit the cab window.
A 41-year-old Chatham man is charged with mischief and breaching the peace.
Funny money; serious charges
A Chatham man is in hot water, and it all began, police say, by him being in the wrong place.
On Saturday afternoon, officers were on foot patrol near a Pine Street address when they noticed the man, who it turns out was prohibited from being there.
An ensuing investigation and search revealed the man was also carrying counterfeit cash.
A 22-year-old Chatham man is charged with breach of court conditions, mischief and possession of counterfeit currency.

A Chatham man faces charges after someone broke into a Water Street residence on the weekend.
Police say someone broke into the residence by damaging the back door to the point the door was inoperable.
Officers located their suspect on Water Street, but police say the suspect resisted.
As a result, a 56-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence and resisting arrest.
She just wouldn’t stay away
A Chatham woman is up on charges after police say she refused to leave a Third Street business Sunday morning.
Despite being issued notices of trespass, police say the woman returned to the business.
A 26-year-old Chatham woman is charged with mischief.
