
A Friday fire at a multi-unit residential building in Blenheim has led to charges.
Police say a 42-year-old woman is charged with arson – disregard for human life in connection with the blaze.
Friday morning fire displaced residents from the building.
No one was injured in the fire at 83 Talbot St. E., which was first reported shortly before 7:30 a.m.
Firefighters from Blenheim, Erieau and Harwich North responded.
Crews arrived to find flames within the residence. Fire officials say all three units in the building were impacted.
Everyone was evacuated safely and officials estimate the damage to be around $500,000.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service Major Crime Unit continues to work with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue as the investigation remains ongoing.
