
A 16-year-old youth is facing charges after a pellet gun was brandished in the parking lot of a Chatham high school.
According to a Chatham-Kent Police Service media release, police received a call at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 30 that a male withdrew what appeared to be a handgun at Chatham-Kent Secondary School.
As a precaution, police placed CKSS under lockdown, as well as King George Public School and McNaughton Avenue School. All have been reopened.
The investigation led officers to a Chatham residence where the youth was arrested. He was is possession of what was determined to be a pellet gun. He has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and pointing a firearm.
Following the arrest, the youth was detained and held for bail.
