Hours after a fire ravaged Mike’s Place, ownership is vowing to rebuild.
Fire struck the well-known Queen Street restaurant in the early morning hours Tuesday. Emergency crews got the call shortly after 2 a.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke and flames emanating from the building.
Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, but the damage was done. Estimates peg the dollar value at $1 million.
No one was injured in the blaze, and the fire remains under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office, Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services and Chatham-Kent police.
On social media, the restaurant’s management promised they’d be back in business.
“Due to a devastating fire, Mike’s Place will be closed until we rebuild,” they posted on social media. “No injuries. Fireman and police officers responded extremely quickly.”
