Why are you running?
I decided to run for councillor because last time people were not given a choice and nobody in government should get the job with the voters not having a say. I feel I can bring a new perspective to the position and I want transparency and accountability for all members. I will take this job and opportunity seriously as I am currently not employed so it will get my full and undivided attention.
What are the two biggest issues for the next term of council?
I think two major issues on most people’s minds right now are taxes with high cost of living and the homeless encampments and the crime that stems from them. I would like to see any tax money is spent on projects that benefit all communities but focus on Ward 5 because that is the area my voters elected me to represent.
What do you hope to achieve if elected?
I would like to see more services provided for smaller areas and not just funneled towards Chatham or vanity projects at the expense of surrounding communities.
I want infrastructure taken care of before it becomes a major issue. Fix pot holes and small projects before they become worse and cost taxpayers more in the future.
I want to make sure the smaller communities do not lose resources they have built over the years just to end up having to go to Chatham.
What skills and experience do you bring?
I have volunteered with groups in Wallaceburg over the years and spent 40-plus years living here, so I am very familiar with the area and needs of the community and will give this opportunity my full attention and not be distracted by other work.
