Why are you running?
I was born and raised in Chatham-Kent, and chose to come back and raise my children here. I believe in this community, but I also know that believing in Chatham-Kent means being transparent about where we can do better. And we need to do better. We need councillors who aren’t afraid of pushback when asking the hard questions, who go against the grain, and who are resilient. And that’s the councillor I plan to be.
What are the two biggest issues for the next term of council?
Fixing the disconnect between the municipality and the public. Residents deserve to understand what decisions are being made, why they are being made, and have a say where their tax dollars are going to better this community.
Gaining our communities’ trust again. We need to be making smart decisions for our community, and economical decisions for the betterment of Chatham-Kent. We will only achieve this with councillors and leadership that will be transparent, honest, and respectful leaders.
What do you hope to achieve if elected?
As a Ward 8 councillor, I want to achieve more than passing motions or managing the status quo. I want residents to see tangible results through responsible spending, stronger communities, better infrastructure, and accountability. I’ll ask difficult questions, listen before deciding, and stay connected to residents. Four years from now, I want residents to say “We saw real change. We felt it, and we knew council was listening. We chose change – and we chose right.”
What skills and experience do you bring?
I bring real-world experience in solving problems, managing competing priorities, and working with people. I take responsibility, look at the details, and find solutions when things don’t go according to plan. I’m comfortable going against the grain, challenging assumptions, and having honest conversations. I’m persistent, curious, and willing to do the work behind the decisions – not just make them.
