Why are you running?
I love Chatham-Kent and I’m very proud to have represented our constituents for the last four years. If re-elected, I want to continue to help shape the future of Chatham-Kent for our youth, retirees, elderly and any new young family who is looking to move to C-K. We live in such a unique area; beautiful country drives, beaches and water surround us, and we must continue to showcase it, invest in it and plan accordingly, both fiscally and responsibly for the betterment of our community.
What are the two biggest issues for the next term of council?
Infrastructure and homelessness. We need to continue to invest into all different sorts of housing (supportive, affordable, long term, retirement) in hopes of getting people off of the streets and into housing.
We need to continue to invest in our infrastructure to show that we are a growing community that is wanting to change and grow with the times. So that we may continue to attract young professionals and their families.
The only way our taxes will ever go down is if our population continues to rise and we invest strategically.
What do you hope to achieve if elected?
I hope to continue the good work that has gone on during the last four years in setting up Chatham-Kent as a great place to live, work and raise a family. I will continue to bring that same proactive, forward-looking mindset to council, focusing on smart infrastructure investment and economic growth.
What skills and experience do you bring?
I’ve been working in the downtown core of Chatham for the last 15-plus years. I’ve been able to see firsthand how much our downtown core has changed in the last decade plus.
Being in food and beverage and hospitality, you have very tight margins to actually make money as a business. It has helped me understand budgets, be fiscally responsible while at the same time looking for innovative ways to drive growth and revenue.
Are you a fan of Donald Trump? No.
