Why are you running?
I’ve always seen C-K as a great place to live, full of untapped potential. What drew me into politics was a passion for making our community better for every resident, and building a place my four children will always want to call home. I want to see our community continue to grow, and thrive. I am running to sustain the forward momentum we’ve built over the last eight years.
What are the two biggest issues?
Infrastructure and homelessness. It’s no secret we’re facing a large gap in infrastructure funding, which will be one of the biggest tasks for our next council. Homelessness, while a national issue, is also a pressing one here in C-K.
It will be critical to increase resources and housing to support individuals experiencing homelessness, while also addressing the needs of other community residents and businesses affected by homelessness, to minimize its impact for everyone involved.
What do you hope to achieve if elected?
- Continue to find ways to decrease the tax burden by establishing revenue-generating partnerships, securing sponsorships from private companies, and attracting new residents and businesses.
- Utilize my relationships with government leaders and ministers to keep fighting for more funding from upper levels of government.
- Leverage our strong financial position to close the infrastructure funding gap, limiting the impact on property taxes while keeping infrastructure current to reduce future costs and maintain service levels for residents.
What skills and experience do you bring?
I bring a passion for our community, backed by the experience and knowledge to lead a corporation as large as the Municipality of C-K. I’ve spent over 30 years in finance and strategic leadership, holding a business degree, CPA designation, and Chartered Director certification. I’ve also stayed active in our community, serving on boards across C-K’s health, financial, and charitable sectors, and raising millions of dollars for local charities.
Are you a fan of Donald Trump? No.
