A local Knights of Columbus council is gearing up for its semi-annual food drive and it needs volunteers.
The Knight of Columbus Blessed Sacrament Council #1412 is running the drive Sept. 17-19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Food Basics and the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham, with non-perishables destined for the Salvation Army food bank.
The familiar Salvation Army Red Kettles will be used at both stores for monetary donations, and TAP will be available as well.
The council leadership estimated they will need between 60 and 90 volunteers over the three-day period.
The goal is to gather 10 tons of food and $8,000 in donations over the three days.
