Auto show supports CKHA

The Chatham Indoor Auto Show is adding a private viewing to its weekend slate March 6-8 at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre.

The Chatham Indoor Auto Show is driving back into the Bradley Centre in early March, and it’s bringing another fundraising effort with it.

New to the show will be a Friday night preview party March 6. In the past, the show began on Friday nights and ran Saturday and Sunday. This time around, Friday will be a little different.

“We got to talking about how to make Friday night unique,” Greg Hetherington, one of the event organizers said. “Obviously, the car dealers are very philanthropic and are always looking for ways to raise funds for charities.”

The Chatham Auto Dealers Association opted to host a limited evening, with all funds raised going to the Foundation of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. There will be 150 tickets sold at $50 apiece.

“The Detroit Auto Show always had that special gala night. This isn’t anywhere near that, but this is fun; wine, cheese, hors d’ouvres,” Hetherington said. “Pay $50 to attend, get a couple of drinks, some food and be the first ones to see the Indoor Auto Show.”

He added those interested in being part of the event need to snag their tickets in advance off the ckhaf.ca website.

This year’s auto show runs March 6-8 at the Bradley Centre, and Chatham’s 10 auto dealers will have a combined 100 vehicles on display.

This marks the 13th year the dealers have run the popular indoor event. Hetherington said it’s a great way to casually shop for a new vehicle and ask questions.

“It (the show) is a good opportunity for people to ask all the questions they want. There is no pressure to buy a car, just an opportunity to meet the local dealers and see the products that are available,” he said.
