Wednesday Chatham-Kent police briefs

Argument leads to arrests

Two local citizens face charges after police pulled over a vehicle Tuesday morning.

Police say they learned of a man and woman arguing inside a moving vehicle on Murray Street in Wallaceburg shortly before 9:30 a.m.

Officers pulled over the vehicle, identified the two people inside and realized they weren’t supposed to be in the same space together.

A woman, 40 and a man, 56, are charged with failing to comply.

Bike stolen, recovered

Two hours after a bicycle was reported stolen Tuesday morning, Chatham-Kent police had recovered it, and the guy on the bike is up on several charges.

Police were advised at 8:40 a.m. that a bike had been taken. By 10:45 a.m., an officer spotted someone riding a bicycle that matched the description of the one that went missing. The officer stopped the rider and confirmed it was the pilfered pedal-powered device.

During the search incident to arrest, the officer found a knife on the man, police say, and that violated a release condition.

The bike was returned to its owner, while the man found in possession of the bike faces charges of possession of stolen property and failing to comply with a release order.

Sharing intimate pics could get you charged

A Wallaceburg man is in hot water legally after police say he shared an image of a woman without her consent.

The investigating officers learned the image was also taken without her consent.

As a result, a 30-year-old Wallaceburg man turned himself in to police Tuesday evening. He is charged with voyeurism and publication of an intimate image without consent.
