Two hurt in head-on collision

A Friday night crash on Base Line sent two people to hospital.

The head-on crash occurred shortly before 7 p.m. between Florence Road and Smoke Line. Two pickup trucks collided when one, driven by a Thamesville man, crossed the centre line, police say.

The Thamesville man, 63, was taken to hospital in Chatham for treatment, while the other driver, a 65-year-old Windsor man, was taken to Four Counties Hospital in Newbury and was later airlifted to London Health Sciences Centre with life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.

Due to the severity of the incident, the Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Management Unit was called in to assist with the investigation.

As of Monday morning, both individuals are reported to be in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigating officer, Const. Joel Rehill, at [email protected] or the Traffic Management Office at 519-355-1092.
