Holiday Jam hits SoK Dec. 27

40 Hours Over, from left, Matt Roberts, Trent Jeffrey and Ben Barnard, are part of the 2025 rendition of Holiday Jam for Hunger, taking place Dec. 27 at Sons of Kent Brewing.

The bands will be there to feed the ears, while patrons will help feed the hungry and support mental health at the annual Holiday Jam for Hunger.

This year, the event takes place Dec. 27 at Sons of Kent in Chatham.

Outreach for Hunger and Hope House – Mental Health Network of Chatham-Kent will benefit from the proceeds of the event.

This musical tradition started in 2004 and has continued every year since (online in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic).

For the past 14 years, local musician Alysson Storey has championed the cause.

While different community organizations have benefited from each concert, several years ago addressing food insecurity became the focus, as the need continues to grow every year.

“All of the participating musicians have strong connections to Chatham-Kent and generously share their talents to benefit Chatham-Kent organizations,” Storey said in a media release. “It’s thanks to them the annual Holiday Jam for Hunger shows have raised close to $40,000 now for local charities. With the news earlier this year from Chatham-Kent Public Health that many people in C-K don’t have enough money to buy food, the need is greater than ever.”

Many of the participating musicians have been involved with the Hunger Jam over the years, including headliner 40 Hours Over. This band played its first public show at the Holiday Jam in 2022 and they have skyrocketed into the music world across southern Ontario since.

Opening the evening will be Cole Pereira, a young solo guitarist and vocalist who is in high demand around the community.

The Dave Trinca Xperience (DTX) will be next up.

Sons of Kent Brewing and an anonymous donor are sponsoring this year’s event.
