Two respected local leaders, known for championing causes to help others, have been acknowledged for their ongoing commitments to community.

Chatham-Kent Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation president Mike Genge and Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF) board of director’s past chair Bob Hockney received their awards at a recent ceremony in Windsor.

At the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Canada South Chapter 2025 National Philanthropy Day Awards, Genge was named Outstanding Fundraising Professional, while Hockney received the Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer award.

As CTC Foundation president, Genge has demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision, and dedication to advance philanthropy for children and families across Chatham-Kent for more than 25 years. Under his leadership, the CTC Foundation led a fundraising campaign that raised more than $10 million. That led to successfully securing an additional $59 million from the provincial government to enable the creation of a new state-of-the-art Children’s Treatment Centre.

Beyond the CTC Foundation, his career includes raising and lobbying for more than $96 million to benefit important local initiatives, including CKHAF, Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre, and Chatham-Kent Hospice. Genge’s recognition as an Outstanding Fundraising Professional reflects his unwavering commitment to effective, ethical, and impactful philanthropy, according to a media release.

Hockney’s advocacy for local health care and outstanding volunteerism were credited in his award. As past chair of the CKHAF board, he played a key role in advancing important hospital initiatives and continues to volunteer his time to build strong donor and community relationships.

Known for his generosity, humility and deep commitment to improving patient care, Hockey is widely regarded as a passionate ambassador for philanthropy in Chatham-Kent.
