A Blenheim man faces multiple charges after police say he tried to evade officers Monday afternoon.
An offer on patrol in Blenheim Monday afternoon spotted a vehicle on Flemingo Street with an obstructed plate. When the vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of James Street and Talbot Street West, officers were able to identify the driver, police say.
It was learned the suspect was prohibited from driving, so the officers went to pull the vehicle over. However, it sped away, travelling westbound on Talbot Street.
Officers tracked the suspect down and made the arrest.
A 29-year-old Blenheim man is charged with flight from police, failing to comply, driving while suspended, and four counts of operating a vehicle while prohibited.
Arrested
Police made an arrest Monday in connection with a pair of break-ins in Wallaceburg over the weekend.
A shed on Minnie Street and a residence on Duke Street had been entered, police say.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect.
On Monday afternoon, they made their arrest on George Street.
A 46-year-old man is charged with two counts of break and enter, one each of possession of stolen property, trespassing at night and disguise with intent.
Stolen vehicles
A pair of recent early morning thefts of vehicles has police on the lookout for a missing tractor and Cadillac.
On Saturday morning shortly after 4 a.m., someone made off with a compact tractor from a property on Richmond Street in Chatham. The red 2024 Massey Ferguson tractor was last seen heading east on Grand Avenue East towards Longwoods Road.
And about 3 a.m. on Monday, someone boosted a white 2012 Cadillac SRX from a property on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
