Police have a bit of egg nogg on their faces after pulling off what they describe as a “high-risk” traffic stop on the weekend, and detaining two Wallaceburg men.
All over a toy gun.
The OPP received a complaint Saturday afternoon after someone said they saw a man holding a handgun, and he was in a vehicle travelling south on St. Clair Road out of Wallaceburg.
Chatham-Kent police were called. Their personnel located the vehicle and pulled it over in the aforementioned “high-risk” manner near Country View Line.
The vehicle pulled over and both occupants complied with police commands.
Police detained the two men, who explained the gun spotted by the complainant was a toy guy, which was recently purchased.
Officers located a black plastic toy handgun and confirmed it was not a real firearm. Police say the complainant later confirmed the occupants were not pointing the toy gun at anyone.
Both individuals were released unconditionally.
