Patio poop; apartment fire

In yet another strange incident in Chatham, apparently someone used the back patio of a Churchill Park Road residence as a toilet, and lit the patio furniture on fire.

Police were called about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday morning to a Churchill Park Road address in Chatham. The officers arrived to find a ground-floor unit had been broken into via a shattered patio door.

There was also evidence of a fire that police believe originated from patio furniture. Firefighters put out the fire as soon as they arrived on scene.

As for that patio, witnesses told the officers a man was seen defecating on it shortly before the incident.

Officers gathered area surveillance video and identified the suspect.

They soon made an arrest

A 46-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with arson and committing an indecent act.
