
Budget season is rapidly approaching for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
The second annual update to the approved 2024-2027 multi-year budget will begin on Nov. 5 when the 2026 annual budget update is presented to council.
This marks the beginning of a political review process that includes opportunities for public input. It is also the third in a four-year budget process.
All budget meetings will be held in-person in council chambers at the Civic Centre, as well as livestreamed on YourTV CK’s YouTube Channel.
Note that the two community consultation events are being held virtually.
On Nov. 5, the proposed budget update will be tabled, and will be available for viewing by the public at www.chatham-kent.ca/ourbudget.
Community consultations take place virtually on Nov. 19 from noon to 1 p.m. and Nov. 20 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both will be held on Chatham-Kent’s Facebook Live feed (www.facebook.com/MunicCK).
The budget committee of council will begin discussions in earnest on Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. in council chambers. Additional meetings, as required, are scheduled to take place Nov. 26 and 27, also at 6 p.m.
If more time is required, Dec. 2 and 3 have also been set aside.
Anyone wishing to make a deputation to council regarding the budget can do so either at the on Nov. 5 or at the first night of deliberations on Nov. 25.
