The Chatham-Kent Public Library is celebrating Ontario Public Library Week with an open house and a “How-To” festival.
This year’s theme is “Libraries for Life,” and staff have created an activity for all ages. As part of the festival, participants have the opportunity to reserve a “How-To” grab-and-go kit and learn a new skill.
Registration for the kits is open and they will be available for pickup at any CKPL branch beginning Oct. 20. The grab-and-go kits include: Make a DIY Beeswax Wrap; Make a Puzzle Mosaic; Make a Wood Slice Ornament; Make a Rainbow Cloud Wall Hanging; Make Candy Sushi; Make a Tissue Paper Painting (kid’s kit); Make an Ugly Christmas Sweater Ornament (kid’s kit).
The Chatham branch will also be hosting an open house Oct. 23 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the library’s cafe. All are invited to attend a forum where participants can learn about the Literary Angels program and new additions to the library collection.
Library board members will also be on hand to speak to community members. Light refreshments will be served at 5 p.m.
To register for a kit, call 519-354-2940; text 519-401-7174 or email cklibrary@chatham-kent.ca.
