Women’s health the focus of online meeting

A new women’s online health series covering the topics of menopause and peri-menopause has been launched by ComeTogetherCK.

It kicks off Oct. 14 with Chatham-Kent Health Alliance obstetrician/gynecologist Dr. Jessica Smith, who will lead a question-and-answer session on Facebook Live at 7 p.m. Local health leader Denise Waddick will serve as moderator.

A recent addition to the CKHA team, Smith said women often navigate menopause and peri-menopause “without the information or reassurance they deserve.

“My hope is to normalize these conversations and provide practical, evidence-based information that helps women better understand what’s happening in their bodies,” the physician said in a media release. “When women feel informed, they can make confident choices about their health.”

Waddick agreed, noting the conversation is long overdue.

“So many women experience these changes silently, unsure of what’s normal or where to turn for help,” she explained. “We want to open that dialogue and help women feel seen, supported, and informed.”

The live, interactive Q&A is open to women of all age and they can participate by joining live or submitting anonymous questions in advance to [email protected].

The session marks the first in a series of women’s health events that ComeTogetherCK will host in the coming weeks, each designed to offer education, connection, and community-based support for women on their health journey.
