Here’s some simple advice to would-be criminals: Don’t steal a motorcycle and then ride it without plates, while in possession of a prohibited weapon.
Also, don’t do all that with a suspended driver’s licence.
Because that’s basically what local police allege a Blenheim man did Thursday, as well as trying to flee police.
It started around 6:15 p.m. Thursday on King Street in Chatham. Police say officers spotted a motorcycle without a licence plate.
They learned the bike was stolen as well.
Further investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of a suspended licence and had a prohibited weapon with him at the time.
Police say he tried to flee and obstruct police in their investigation.
As a result, a 40-year-old Blenheim man is charged with obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of stolen property, three counts of driving while under suspension, driving a motor vehicle without plates, and driving a motor vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device.
