Not very manly
A man faces multiple charges, including for choking, after he allegedly assaulted a woman Tuesday evening.
Police were called about 10:40 p.m. to a Chatham residence.
Investigations revealed that an argument occurred between a man and a woman. That argument got ugly, and physical, as police say the suspect approached the 28-year-old victim and assaulted her. He also threatened her, police say.
All this was caught on CCTV, police say.
A personal item belonging to the victim was also stolen.
A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with assault causing bodily harm (choking), uttering threats to cause death, theft, and possession of stolen property.
Police also discovered the accused had an outstanding warrant for skipping out on a court date last week.
It all started with a broken headlight
A local man is up on numerous charges that actually evolved out of a traffic stop for a defective headlight.
Police say officers pulled over a vehicle about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on Eugenie Street in Chatham for the problematic headlight.
The driver was issued several provincial offence notices.
But further investigation revealed that the licence plate on the vehicle did not match the vehicle’s registration. The plates were seized, and the vehicle was towed.
Later that day, officers confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen and that the suspect was found to be in breach of his probation order.
The suspect, a 34-year-old male from Chatham-Kent, was located by officers and charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, three counts of failing to comply with a probation order, driving while under suspension and driving with improper headlights.
It seems if you just have to drive around in a stolen vehicle, you should at least have proper headlights.
