
Fake names, real arrests
A Wednesday morning meet between a man and a woman at the back of a property on Richmond Street in Chatham likely did not go as planned. That is unless the pair planned on being arrested.
Police were called over a concern of the well-being of the woman.
Officers found the man and woman together in the property near West Street. The man and woman gave false names, police say.
Once the officers sorted out who was who, they determined the two were not supposed to associate with one another. It’s in the man’s release conditions, police say.
As a result, a 39-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply.
A 45-year-old Wallaceburg woman is charged with charged with obstructing a peace officer and facilitating a breach of the probation order.
Alleged rock tosser arrested
It took a few days, but a man police say threw rocks at a woman late last week is in custody.
On Aug. 28 at about 5 p.m., police learned of an assault on King Street East in Chatham. The victim reported being assaulted by a man, who was seen throwing rocks at her from a neighbouring property.
In fact, the woman recorded a video of the incident, which clearly captured the accused’s identity and actions, showing multiple rocks being thrown and hitting her on the legs and arm, police say.
On Wednesday afternoon, police located the accused and gave him a set of steel bracelets and a ride in the back of a police cruiser.
A 19-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault with a weapon and resisting arrest. He is currently being held for a bail hearing.
She couldn’t let it go
A Chatham woman faces charges after police say she threatened an ex-roommate Wednesday evening.
Police got the call about 6 p.m. to a Sandys Street residence. A man told officers his ex-roommate violated her release conditions by communicating with him, and threatened his life.
Officers confirmed the woman’s identity and sought to find her. They tracked her down at an apartment on McNaughton Avenue and made their arrest.
A 28-year-old Chatham woman is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and failing to comply with an undertaking.
