A robbery of convenience

Well, this would not have happened a year ago.

Two masked men entered a convenience store on McNaughton Avenue West shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday and made off with multiple cases of alcoholic beverages, police say.

They also assaulted a store employee before fleeing.

Police say a woman was seen entering the store shortly before the men, but leaving with them.

Officers obtained video footage and learned that the victim had sustained injuries, and needed treatment in hospital.

They later located the suspects’ vehicle at a residence on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

Just after 3 a.m., police nabbed all three suspects at that location.

A Blenheim woman, 40, and two men, 21 and 20, of no fixed address, are charged with robbery and wearing a disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence.

Just a reminder that the provincial government opened up the sale of ready-to-consume alcoholic beverages in September 2024.
