A Chatham man faces charges after police say someone threatened a woman while wielding a crossbow on Thursday.
Police say the incident took place on Tweedsmuir Avenue West in Chatham in the middle of the afternoon.
A 34-year-old Chatham woman reported being threatened by a man with a crossbow.
Police responded, secured the area and set up containment around the residence. They ordered the home’s occupants to exit, but say a man refused to comply.
He had to be tased, police say.
Additional investigation led officers to believe the man had made prior threats to others, including pointing a loaded crossbow at people.
The officers also learned their suspect was bound by conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
A Chatham man, 24, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, failure to comply with a release order, possession of ammunition contrary to a probation order, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
