Employees at the KSR International Inc. plant in Ridgetown were informed by letter earlier this month that the business had been sold to an American company.

Angstrom Automotive Group, with its head office in Southfield, Mich., took over ownership of KSR International as of July 2, according to the intra-office letter distributed to “all global team members.”

A copy of the letter was sent to the Ridgetown Independent News by an anonymous source recently.

According to the letter, there will be no job losses resulting from the change in ownership.

“Please be assured that our day-to-day operations will continue as usual and there are no immediate changes to your roles or responsibilities,” the letter stated.

Employees of the Erie Street manufacturer were told that the transaction “marks a significant milestone in our company’s journey.”

The letter highlighted that Angstrom brings a wealth of experience, resources, and a strong commitment that aligns with KSR International’s values and vision.

“We are confident that this change will open new opportunities for growth, innovation and long-term success for our organization and each of you,” the letter stated, adding that employees will be kept informed as KSR works with Angstrom through the transition process.

Inquiries for more information sent to both KSR International Inc. and Angstrom Automotive Group on Friday were not returned by the deadline.

The Chatham-Kent Economic Development team stated that they were also awaiting further information after learning of the sale.

A.J. Sales founded KSR International Inc. in 1948, operating out of his garage in Ridgetown, where he manufactured locks for Ford-built cars and trucks.

KSR expanded rapidly and, by 1957, redefined the traditional fixed-pedal business.

Today, the company is recognized as a global leader in the manufacturing of accelerator, brake, and clutch pedals, as well as sensors.

With its headquarters still in Ridgetown, KSR is a privately held company with additional facilities in Rodney, Southfield, Mich., as well as in Mexico, England, Germany, the Czech Republic and China.

Angstrom Automotive Group was founded in 1999 and is an expert in the metal manufacturing process, including tubular forming, high-pressure die-casting, forging, and stamping.

The company has plants in Brantford (Angstrom Fibre Canada) and 12 locations across the United States, as well as in Mexico, Brazil, Hungary, and Germany.
