Assault in Chatham
A Chatham man faces multiple charges following an incident Monday morning.
Police were called to a “local medical facility” on Grand Avenue West in Chatham at 7:30 a.m. over a report of a disturbance.
The man had previously been ordered not to attend the property unless for a medical emergency or schedule appointment, police say.
Since the term “medical emergency” was used in the police media release, it is safe to say the incident took place at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, as no other ‘local medical facility” on Grand Avenue west handles medical emergencies.
During the incident, the accused became verbally aggressive toward a security officer after being asked to leave, police say. The altercation escalated when the accused made threatening gestures and shouted at the officer.
A 50-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault and failing to comply with a probation order.
Erratic driving, yelling lead to impaired charge
A Chatham man faces charges following a traffic complaint Monday evening on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Police say they received a report of someone driving in an aggressive and reckless manner in a pickup truck.
The truck was seen hitting curbs and failing to stop at multiple intersections. Police say the driver was also said to be honking and yelling at other motorists.
A short while later, officers located the driver at a Chatham residence. Police say he showed signs of impairment and refused to provide identification.
A 49-year-old Chatham man is charged with obstructing police, driving while impaired, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
