A man police say drove off with a woman hanging out of the car, and who bumped others with his car, is facing charges.
The incident took place Wednesday evening on Sheldon Avenue. Witnesses contacted police to report a man and woman were arguing about 7:45 p.m. when the man put the car in reverse. Police say the woman was partially in the vehicle and the door was open.
One of the witnesses tried to stand in front of the car to stop the man from driving off with the woman still hanging out of the vehicle, but police say the driver bumped the bystander, and drove away.
Officers later tracked down the suspect and the girlfriend at a residence in the south side of Chatham. According to police, the man admitted to not having a driver’s licence and to driving in that manner.
