A Chatham woman faces charges after police say someone broke into another woman’s home and assaulted her early Monday morning.
According to Chatham-Kent police, about 2:45 a.m., an intoxicated individual broke into a Chatham residence while a 36-year-old Chatham woman slept.
The homeowner woke up and tried to get the intruder out of their home. A scuffle broke out and the intruder assaulted the woman, police say.
The homeowner eventually succeeded in getting the other person out of their house and called police.
Officers arrived and located the suspect nearby. She was arrested without incident.
A Chatham woman, 32, is charged with break and enter and assault.
