Shoplifting

Two Chatham women face theft charges following a Friday evening five=finger-discount effort at a retail store in Chatham.

Police say the loss-prevention officers reported the situation to them shortly after 6 p.m. that two people were seen concealing items and then leaving without paying for them.

The suspects, police say, did pay for several other items, but not for the concealed merchandise.

A loss-prevention officer apprehended one suspect, but a second fled on foot, discarding several items while trying to avoid arrest.

Police tracked her down.

Two women, 51 and 35, are charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

More shoplifting

Two Windsor suspects also face charges after they allegedly made off with items without paying for them on Saturday morning at a Chatham store.

Police received a call saying two people had left without paying for a large quantity of items, but were still in the parking lot.

Officers arrived and found one suspect in the parking lot, but the other fled on foot.

She didn’t get far.

A Windsor man, 56 is charged with theft, possession of stolen property and obstructing police.

A Windsor woman, 44, faces a charge of possession of stolen property,

The investigation led to the arrest of a third suspect. A Chatham woman, 31, is charged with possession of stolen property and obstructing police.

Police say video surveillance also confirmed the suspects’ involvement, including the vehicle in which the stolen items were loaded.
Threats

One Chatham man faces charges in the wake of a domestic disturbance call on Sunday morning in Chatham.

Police say one man reported “erratic behaviour” by another family member, which escalated.

One Chatham man, 31, is charged with uttering threats.
