It’s municipal budget time – let the deliberations begin.

As part of the first annual update to the 2024-27 multi-year budget, the process will commence Nov. 13 when the budget is presented to council.

That marks the beginning of a political review process that includes opportunities for public input, according to a municipal media release. All budget meetings will be held in-person at Chatham-Kent Civic Centre council chambers and livestreamed on YourTV CK’s YouTube channel.

Opening night takes place Nov. 13 at 6 p.m., at which time the budget will be tabled. Local citizens can view the budget on the municipal website at chatham-kent.ca/ourbudget.

Community consultations will also take place. A brief summary of the 2025 budget will be laid out at the beginning of each community session followed by a live public question and answer session. These online virtual events are set for Nov. 20 from noon to 1 p.m. and Nov 21 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Council’s budget deliberation sessions are scheduled for Nov. 26-28 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

If more time is required, Dec. 3 and 4 have been set aside.

Anyone wishing to make a deputation to council regarding the budget can do so either at opening night Nov. 13 or on the first night of deliberations Nov. 26. Requests and submission must be sent by email to ckfps@chatham-kent.ca by noon on those dates.

General comments regarding the budget can be submitted at any time via email to ckfps@chatham-kent.ca or through the regular mail to Budget & Performance Services, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, 315 King Street Chatham ON, N7M 5K8; or by calling 519-360-1998.
