A man faces charges after police say he broke into his mother’s house on Sunday.

Chatham-Kent police were called to a residence in Highgate late Sunday afternoon, as a woman claimed her son broke into her home.

A 34-year-old man is charged with break and enter.

Man bikes out of field; arrested

A late-night bicycle ride apparently had ill intent.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Monday morning, an officer on patrol located a male on a bicycle coming out of a field in Dover Township.

The male initially provided a false name, however, once his true identity was established, it was learned he was breaching his curfew, police say.

The 24-year-old man then resisted arrest by trying to pull away from the officers. However, he was taken into custody, police say. He was found in possession of crowbars, wrenches and other tools commonly used to commit break and enters.

The male was charged with breaching his Form 11 curfew condition, obstruct police, resist arrest, possession of break and enter tools and Highway Traffic Act offenses.

Window broken; man arrested

Someone smashed a window Saturday night at 200 Westcourt Blvd. in Wallaceburg.

A 32-year-old Walpole Island man was located and found to be breaching a condition of his probation.

The man was charged with mischief and breach of probation.

He hit her; she hit him; both charged

Two Chatham people face charges of assault after Chatham-Kent police say they assaulted one another early Saturday morning.

Police were called about 3:30 a.m. Saturday for a disturbance at a residence on Merritt Avenue in Chatham.

Officers learned a man and woman had assaulted one another.

A man, 57, and a woman, 50, both of Chatham, face assault charges.

A field is not a roadway

A man faces impaired charges after police received a complaint early Saturday morning of a truck in a field near Gregory Drive and Orangewood Boulevard in Chatham.

Police attended and found a 22-year-old man who had been driving the truck.  The man was arrested and taken to Chatham-Kent Headquarters where police say he registered 2.5 times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The man faces impaired driving and mischief charges.

Fighting mood

A Chatham man has to answer to charges after someone freaked out on the weekend, allegedly assaulting one other man and multiple police officers.

Police were called to an address on Patteson Avenue in Chatham on Saturday. A man was asked the leave the home.  The man became upset before he assaulted a second person and several police officers, police say.

A 44-year-old Chatham man is charged with three counts of assaulting police, one of assault and one of resisting arrest.
