Missed court dates

Three people had to answer for missing court dates recently.

On Tuesday, a 25-year-old Leamington man walked into Chatham-Kent police headquarters to turn himself in.

In early December, a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest when he failed to make a court appearance related to an impaired driving investigation.

The Sarnia police did their Chatham-Kent brethren a favour, scooping up a 49-year-old Chatham man wanted on an outstanding warrant here.

The Sarnia cops contacted local police early afternoon.

The man is facing charges of failing to attend court, mischief, two counts of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property.

Another man walked into the cop shop Tuesday evening to answer to charges.

A 54-year-old Chatham man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court related to a prohibited driving charge.

Bail violations

A family fracas wound up seeing two people arrested Tuesday morning in Chatham.

Police got the call mid-morning over a family dispute on Vanier Drive in Chatham. Officers arrived and found a man in the driveway of the home.

It turns out that a March 14 court order, the ink being only five days old, stated the fellow was to not be at that address. It was part of his release conditions. In fact, those conditions stated he was to not communicate with or even be near the resident. Plus he was supposed to reside at a specific address.

But, apparently, he could not stay away.

Police say investigation revealed the resident was allowing the man the man to communicate and reside with her knowing he was bound by conditions.

A 32-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with five counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

A 54-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with facilitating a breach of a release order.

Apparently, Tuesday morning was a popular time for family altercations, as police were called for a family dispute on McGuigan Avenue in Chatham about 20 minutes after the call came in for the Vanier incident.

Officers arrived on the scene and located a man outside the home. Investigation revealed the man was bound by conditions prohibiting him from communicating with the residents and only attending the home once to retrieve his personal belongings.

The man was found to be breaking these conditions, police say.

Further investigation revealed the man was wanted on two outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and a bail violation investigation from last October.

The 42-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested, transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is facing charges of failing to attend court, mischief, three counts of uttering threats and four counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Probation violation

On Tuesday afternoon, police located a man on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

A 43-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He has been charged with failing to comply with a probation order.
