Chatham-Kent police are investigating a recent spate of break-ins at properties located within the evacuation zone along Talbot Road East in Wheatley.

A purchase of these properties by the Municipality is currently in process, subject to final council consideration and voting, with an anticipated purchase and demolition occurring later this spring. While this work proceeds, C-K administration has hired a company to provide 24-hour security for the site. These security personnel will be present in the area while the matter is investigated and next steps in the property purchases are undertaken.

If you see suspicious activity in the vicinity of Wheatley, you are asked to contact police at 519-352-1234. You can provide information anonymously by submitting a tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
